He should have just asked for busfare. . .

Leaving the night club on Monday night, my two friends (I was walking slightly behind them) were approached by a fellow of about 20.

The translation of the conversation is below.

“Excuse me,” he said.  They stopped and looked at him expectantly.

“Don’t be afraid, I won’t bite,” he half-joked.  “I was just wondering, it’s our girl’s birthday” he pointed to his comrades, another boy and girl of about 18 or 20 sitting in the doorstep of a bank “and we’ve spent all of our money on drinks and fun and such.”  Pause.

“We were wondering, if it wouldn’t be too weird, if you could give us some money.  We’d like to get some soup now.”

My friends looked at each other, then at him, then at his friends, then back to him.  “Uhh, sorry, it would be weird,” my friends replied in unison.

The boy responded, “O zaman, inşallah hep evde kalırsınız.”  Well, in that case, may God will it that you both always stay at home.  (I hope y’all two never find husbands.)

I wonder who will be the lucky girl that this Price Charming eventually marries?
